What is Electronic Prescribing?
Electronic prescription writing, or e-prescribing, is typically defined as prescriptions sent directly over the internet, by either pharmacy-direct fax or via a pharmacy-direct messaging gateway (a secure prescription sent over the internet to a pharmacy computer) along with access to real-time cost, formulary and patient history information. Broad definitions include printed prescriptions, so long as they have been created on a computer with the help of clinical database-powered software.

To what pharmacies can I send electronic prescriptions?
Greater than 90% of the pharmacies in the United States have the technology to receive prescriptions electronically and send refill requests back to providers. Every major pharmacy chain is part of the network.

Does ScriptSure include a list of pharmacies that can receive electronic prescriptions?
Yes. ScriptSure comes loaded with a list of pharmacies that can receive electronic prescriptions; pharmacy name, address, fax number and other pertinent information is included. This list is updated every week via automatic internet update.

Does ScriptSure store patient data?
Yes. ScriptSure stores all patient data and all activites performed in the software.

What medications are included in the software?
All brand and generic prescription, over the counter and injectible medications on the market are pre-programmed in the software - greater than 45,000 medications are included. For all prescription medications, formats have been pre-programmed in for fast and easy selection. No typing is required!

Where does the medication data come from?
Our medication data comes from First Databank. First Databank is a leading provider of context-relevant, integrated drug database products. First Databank provides clinical data to many major hospitals and pharmacies in the United States and you will have it available at your fingertips.

Does ScriptSure have the capability to perform drug and allergy interactions?
Yes. ScriptSure contains drug-drug and allergy checking databases that automatically perform these checks. In addition, ScriptSure includes as many as 14 other drug checks (i.e. drug-food, polypharmacy, duplicate therapy, condition checks and more).

What are the minimum system requriements to use ScriptSure?

What type of software is ScriptSure?
ScriptSure is a Client-Server application. the patient and medical databases that are a part of the software reside on one computer (typically a server, but any desktop, laptop or tablet PC will suffice) and any other networked computer communicates and shares the data on the server.

Can I print, fax and send prescriptions electronically to pharmacies?
Yes. ScriptSure has the ability to do all three. Simply select the medication and format you desire and click the appropriate button; print, fax, pharmacy direct or mail order.

How do I print prescriptions in my office? Do I need special paper?
ScriptSure can print to any printer in your office. We do offer a printer that has been specifically designed for printing prescriptions (learn more here: Prescription printing). The paper used for prescription printing depends on which state you practice in. Some states (e.g. NY, NJ) have their own paper templates that must be used for prescriptions. While many states may not have templates, they may have specific security paper requirements that need to be adhered to; in addition Medicare has set forth several requirements. If I use a prescription-sized printer or laser paper for a printer how do I print reports or other documents?
ScriptSure has flexible printing setup. Prescriptions can be sent to a specific printer or tray while other 8.5 x 11 documents can be printed (e.g.patient encounter summary report) to another printer or tray within a printer.

Installation Questions

How is ScriptSure installed?

ScriptSure is typically installed as a client-server application. This means that the software is installed on a computer and the patient and drug databases can be installed on the same computer or a designated server. We do have other installation capabilities (web hosting or thin-client install) as well.
