The Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Records Incentive Program provides incentive payments to eligible professionals and hospitals as they demonstrate adoption, implementation, upgrading and meaningful use of certified software. These incentives are designed to help providers adopt and use EHRs in meaningful ways.

The Medicare EHR Incentive Program started in 2011 and incentive payments under Medicare continue through 2016. The last year to begin participation in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program is 2014. Incentive payments for eligible professionals are made based on the calendar year. You will want to begin participating immediately if you have not already done so.
