Summary:
On June 30, 2025, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) announced a temporary pause in enforcement of certain Real World Testing (RWT) certification requirements for calendar year 2025. While this move aims to ease compliance burdens for developers, DAW Systems remains fully committed to rigorous safety, security, and interoperability standards. Regardless of regulatory changes, our flagship ScriptSure Cloud E-Prescribing v3.0 platform continues to meet and exceed ONC certification benchmarks, reinforcing our leadership in e-prescribing and health IT integrity.

On June 30, 2025, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), in coordination with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, issued updated enforcement guidance concerning the Real World Testing (RWT) Condition of Certification. Under this newly announced enforcement discretion, health IT developers will not be required to submit their calendar year 2025 real world testing plans—typically due by December 15 for the following year’s testing cycle. Similarly, ONC-Authorized Certification Bodies (ONC-ACBs) are not obligated to enforce or publish those plans. This temporary action is effective immediately and is intended to reduce short-term regulatory overhead while preserving the core tenets of transparency and accountability outlined in the 21st Century Cures Act.

ONC further clarified that results for 2025 RWT will not be required in 2026, except for developers whose health IT modules were certified under specific API interoperability criteria—namely § 170.315(g)(7) through (g)(10)—as of August 31, 2024. Those developers must still complete testing and submit results according to existing deadlines. All others benefit from this temporary enforcement relief through December 31, 2026, or until ONC modifies the related regulations (§ 170.405 and § 170.523(p)).

At DAW Systems, we support the goal of simplifying compliance where appropriate, but we believe patient safety and data integrity should never be compromised. ScriptSure Cloud E-Prescribing v3.0—our flagship health IT platform—remains fully certified under the ONC Health IT Certification Program. We have met or exceeded all certification and maintenance requirements, including those covering real world testing, interoperability, and ongoing security updates. Our compliance records with ONC-ACBs are up to date and valid.

While the enforcement pause offers relief for many developers, DAW Systems continues to operate under the highest internal standards for testing, transparency, and certification integrity. Our customers depend on us for reliability and compliance, and we take that responsibility seriously.

This ONC policy shift aligns with Executive Order 14192, which seeks to reduce regulatory complexity without compromising innovation or access. As the RWT Condition of Certification evolves—especially for systems that support API exchange and the Standards Version Advancement Process (SVAP)—DAW Systems will remain actively engaged and aligned with all updated benchmarks.

Our enduring commitment to ONC standards is one of the many reasons why ScriptSure Cloud ERX continues to be recognized as a best-in-class e-prescribing solution—trusted by providers, secure for patients, and built for long-term success.
